Page 3: — Alma's love life
A king-size bed in the sunlight, made up with a beautiful bedspread stretched tight and pillows carefully arranged. Alma is huddled under the covers, with her head emerging at one of the bottom corners. She is in a fetal position, taking up as little space as possible, and has not disturbed the rest of the covers at all — it's as if neatness and order have almost pushed her out of bed entirely.
A year ago, my romantic life was in a rut. I hadn't had a boyfriend in ages.
Alma glancing sideways at a man in a suit as he goes out a door. You don't see the man's face, only the suit, a hand, and on Alma's face an expression of interest, confusion and perhaps a little despair.
I might occasionally get interested in a man at work, but nothing would come of it.
